E350 Gas

Hello everyone,

I am in the market for an 2010-2011 E350.

I have a couple questions.

The 722.9/NAG-2 transmission known for breaking the transmission oil pump. MB released a updated version of this pump with a needle bearing in place of a bushing.

I have been a trans tech for 35 years. I have been looking and cant seem to find the year that MB switched from the bushing style pump to the bearing style.

Please advise,

Mark

Hello Mark,

Welcome to the forum, I could not tell you what year that was, but I can tell you how you may discover the part providing it is sold separately?

What i would do is sign-up EPC-You will need a credit card(it is free), windows machine that is fully updated. Using Internet explorer with JAVA fully updated.

EPC-net Online

A) Find VIN's for each year of the E350's(from 2003 to your year). Look on Craiglist or other vendors where they show the vin's

B) Put in the vin's into EPC, and look at the Transmission list of parts for each year; Watch the year the part revision until the revised part appears as the leading part, or the oil pump part number gets revised.

C) I'd call the dealer once you have the part number of the bearing to get visual ID..

I did this once to find a revised part. sounds like a pain, but it has worked for me. Maybe someone else can give you another approach..

Best of luck,

Martin
