1994 e320 Cabriolet

Well, I finally got one....

This is my 7th 124 and my first cab. It 80k original miles and I paid 3200.

Why so cheap? Top issues of course. The previous owner could no longer deal with the cost. It has one leaky cylinder, so I plan on pulling all of them and having them rebuilt For those with a cab, the plastic piece on the inside of the top by the bottom of the window is broken. I will just live with that.

Other issues: needs a voltage regulator, passenger's seat back doesn't move, and typical bolster wear on drivers side back. There is also a seam split in the driver's seat bottom. So I will be on the lookout for replacements there.

It is triple black with lower gray cladding. No rust, shiny paint and new tires. I will be changing out all new fluids after the new year as well. Probably will need new brakes soon. The brakes have 35k on them according to service records.

At this price, I can put $$ into the car. No signs of the head gasket being replaced, so I have to set aside money for that.

Runs like a top...although I did come home with a spare battery in my trunk

I should have it ready to go by the end of February, I figure.

Sounds like a great deal, especially for the updated '94 model!!! Did you find it online or locally advertised?

Best of luck, you'll enjoy it very much.

You also might want to change the O2 sensor if it is original.

Good luck with it Lee. At least you're familiar with the breed.
My 124C is good enough for me. I get enough sun at the beach.
Cabs scare the heck out of me.
Not to mention I have no skill or desire to do anything other than fill the washer tank, change a light bulb or change an air filter.

,,,got it locally...it was on craigslist.....

after I change the voltage regulator, i will probably do the o2.

removing the top cylinders and sending them out will be the tough job..

I am sure there will be a few other issues before i am done..... i just found out that you have to treat the canvas tops with a water protector... i didn't even know something as simple as that.... anyway.. i have been wanting one for years....

I hadn't heard about the water protector. Any specific product recommended to you?

Once you remove the rear seat and the rear side panels, you can access the 4 cylinders below the c pillars.

Locks and the tonneau cover cylinders are much easier.

Be careful not to lose any of the line clips!

the paint does not bead up...even though it is shiny... so i will be polishing it...then waxing it as well

Canvas top sealant

303 will not water proof canvas. It will only make it look nice, but once it gets wet, the top will suck up moisture like crazy.

Raggtopp and others make cleaners and canvas sealer/protectants designed for convertible tops. Use them to seal the canvas.

My apologies

My mistake. When you said "303" alone, I thought of the aerospace protectant. I did not know they made a sealer. My fail.

I've always wanted a W124 cabriolet.

I'm so jealous.

I will tell you my story real quick.... someone was going to sell me a 2005 s430 with 80k on it for 6200.... they backed out an hour before we were supposed to go to the transfer.

Then I had a deal on a beautiful 1997 s320.... with 76k... i had the deal set for 5200.... we were to meet at the bank the next day...a guy came and gave him the cash one hour after i left.

i have been negotiating for the cab for about three months... it needs the top cylinders re-done... will be lots of work....

maybe it was meant to be .... i don't know... I will tell you the 97 s320 was stunning.... i was not as impressed with the 2005 s430......didn't seem like an s class.... barely an e class, quite frankly
