1995 E320 O2 sensor questions
The Pelicanparts tutorial on changing the O2 sensor claims that the connectors are critical to the functioning of the sensor because it gets reference air through the connector, and thus recommends against soldering the MBZ connectors onto a universal O2 sensor.
Since the MBZ part costs six times what I can get a new universal part for on That Auction Website, I need to know if there's any truth to this claim, and/or if there's a way around it.

Yeah, but I can get a universal one for $23, and I still have a bunch of suspension bits that need replaced.

Seriously?????
Unbelievable if that is what the article really states. I don't even want to bother looking at instructions that could possibly be that retarded. (Or maybe I should read it for entertainment value?)
The 'reference' air for an O2 sensor has absolutely nothing to do with soldering connectors on the wires that extend (far) out from the body. WTH was the author thinking - that air is sucked in through the wires - and that solder would plug it? WOW....

Yeah, it sounded like bunkum to me too. Think I'll just get a universal and solder it in.

I have Bosch generics with soldered wires on both my E320's--they seem to work just fine.
I also find the bit about "sucking reference air through the wires" hard to believe. J. M. van Swaay
