adding stock heated seats to a w210
I recently purchased a 1996 E300. I wasn't very pleased with the stock MBtex seats it came with and located an entire leather interior in the same color with more padding etc. I intalled the new ones and they feel completely different. I'm very pleased with them. As I was looking at the extra harness that came with the seats, I ran the # and found out that the seats are heated. I have no problem with running extra wires etc. What would be the simplest way of hooking these up so they work? Like I said, I have the harness that plugs into the bottom of the seat. Just need to know what else to get. Has anyone done this or rigged it so it works? Thanks!
I also purchased a new wooden console with the heated seat switches and wires out the back of it to tap into. Would a wiring harness be the only thing next that I would need? I found this and looks to complete everything? http://www.mbpartsworld.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_assembly=1092033&ukey_product=7528608

I'm pretty sure that will do it, I am not sure where the power supply comes from, I assume direct from the fusebox. Might want to look at the fusebox for a fuse assignment for heated seats, then see if the fuse is there, if not look and see if there are metal contacts for both sides of that fuse, if not I would call it a show stopper or at least a show 'slower", LOL.
The larger connector that has the numbers 14 and 17 I assume is where the power comes from. Again assuming here, the connector that plugs in to might be in the car (prewired), if both of the fuse contacts are in the fusebox. If both contacts (or no contacts) are there then I bet you need a bit more wiring. The 2 connectors with the 8 and 11 I believe are for the switches and you say you have all that. The connectors with the 20 I think are for the seats themselves. Part 38 should be on your heated seats, part #47 you may need. The auto shutoff I believe is all handled by the switch. I don't believe the heating system has any relays.

I ordered and received my harness and everything is there for me to hook right up now. I have switches and the new wire harness plugs right in... The seat ends are on the harness to plug right in. Brown is a ground wire which is self explanatory. There are two wires left a thick Red with blue stripe which I would think is a hot wire and a black with white stripe. Any idea which wire is for what?

I don't have a wiring diagram here (that I know of, LOL). Can you ID these wires on that parts diagram you have in your first post? Do they connect at the seat or chassis or both, if at the chassis do you have it connected somewhere at the seat. Or vise-versa. What are the connectors like, can you post a picture?

They appear to be power wires....I just don't know why there would be 2 of them. On the diagram one looks to go to the back of the car (I'm thinking fuse box by battery)? I'd just hook that up to the power with a fuse in between. The other seems to go towards the engine. I guess the other fuse box? It doesn't show which color goes where and if one should be constant or switched though. I tried to post a pick from my phone buy it won't upload. There is no connectors for these two wires. They just look like large blades that would connect somewhere.... The receiving end of a fuse box.

I wired everything up and it works perfectly. Nice warm seats in about 5 mins!
