HELP!!! Agonizing Clock Spring W210 1998 e320
My Steering wheel makes a God awful squeek when I turn it. It wasn't as bad until I replaced the combination switch, now it unbearable. I've isolated the sound from the clock spring. By itself the when turned a little the clock spring does not make a sound. but install the thing andput the steering wheel on and there isn't a sterweo loud enough to cover the squeeking sound.
I've taken it apart atleast a dozen times and it just seems to keep getting louder. Without the clock spring turning the steering wheel doesn't make any sound. Anyone with suggestions? And no, there is no lubrication on the thing, and wasn't from the factory.

There is a setting for how far back the combo switch must be attached. If not far enough, the angle sensor may squeak. See drawing.
