R129 Power Window Short Stroke Feature
1997 SL 600
Successfully replaced the left power window regulator but now find that the window's "short stroke" feature is no longer functional. Remains functional on the right door. Is there a trick to restoring this feature or has something failed defective? Thanks. |

I assume you've run the window all the way down and all the way up a couple of times?

Yes.
Express down is stored for both windows but express up won't store for either window. |

Are you holding the switch for 3 seconds after the window reaches the up limit of travel?
This is what stores the top limit. The next time I do this on my car I'm going to put some rags on the glass edge to reduce closed height. Doing this will keep the seal from getting too crushed in normal use. |

Yes.
Note that the short stroke feature for convertibles is separate from the express up feature and is not found on the four door sedans. |

Short stroke as in " pull the door handle and the window drops 1/2 inch so it does not get caught on the weather strip? " Is so, get a wiring diagram and test the door handle / latch switch.
