SRS light on

Hey, in my 1992 500E, my SRS light is on and won't go off. When i first got it, it would go on, stay on for 30 seconds, then go off and then go back on and repeat about 10 seconds later. Now it won't go off at all. Is there anything I can check out? Anything to save a trip to the shop? Thanks guys.
