how lucky we are!!!!!
oh,how lucky we are!first for being able to drive some of the most luxurious, beautiful, safe and fastest cars in the world.and next to have such a great forum provided for us by mercedesshop.i spent the weekend scanning other mb sites and this one kicks @$#!nothing i've seen so far can touch this site.now if i read correctly earlier a way to show appreciation for this site is to frequent the establishments parts counter.i've done that and am glad i did(prices REALLY are better here).one niggling problem i have and a question i want to pose to all of you:should we be concerned if the parts DO NOT have the star on them?does this automatically make them inferior?what does OEM mean?does every part on our car have a star on it?now. this is by no means a backdoor slam on this site-i can't say enough for the help i've recieved and the intelligence that exists with ALL it's members.thanks to phil in parts for all his help and i'll be ordering those items regardless of what people say here but it's something i wanted everybody to think about.oh,yeah-GO LEAFS GO!!!!!!!!!

You have to remember the three levels of parts.
Mercedes Parts = having the Star. OEM = made by the same as above but wont (or may not) have the Star (OEM usually means Original Equipment Manufacturer). Aftermarket = something different, but not necessarily bad. I have bought a lot of parts here. Some have been in the blue box with the Star, most have been OEM and don't come in the blue box (but many still have the MB part number and Star on the part). I have been satisfied with every part I've purchased, perfect fit and perfect performance. Remember, on many parts just having the blue box and Star will raise the price somewhat. If you can get the same part for a few dollars less by forgoing the blue box, what's the problem?

The parts I have recieved have come from companies like TRW, Moog, Bendix etc.. I have never had a problem with fit or function. I have however had fit problems on other vehicles with parts made in the pacific areas, Japan excluded. I try to stay with European, Japanese or US/Canadian made parts. Unfortunatly some of the more reputable parts companies are now manufacturing in "lowest bidder" locations and the quality is starting to show.
