W124 4Matic blowing OPRs
My '93 300TE looses 4Matic from time to time - dash light goes on and 4Matic stops working. When it goes, I have replaced the overload protection relay with a new one ($18 Uro) and it works again (read on a post somewhere this was the fix). First time this fix lasted a year+, 2nd time about 9 months, 3rd time about a week.
Wondering if I try replacing with an OEM opr ($50) if this will last longer or is there a deeper problem that needs fixing first, like an abs sensor. If so, how do you diagnose which sensor is bad, or find what the real problem is? Any experience with this problem and/or advice out there? Thanks from newbie member. In Vermont where 4wd and good winter tires a necessity. |

Never use anything but original OVP.
