m104 stumbling, hesitating
Hello, I have a 1995 w210 E320 with the m104 engine, and I have been having some troubles lately. When the engine is restarted when hot, the idle will drop low and it will begin to misfire. When accelerating, there is a hesitation delay of about 1 second from idle before the engine will respond. Also, when cruising along at about 30-40 mph, the rpms will begin to bounce between 1000 and 1200 rpm when the accelerator is released. This bouncing is very rapid. The vacuum system seems to be in decent condition. Possibly the fuel pressure regulator? The car has about 200,000 miles on it.
Any help would be appreciated. |

I had my motor switched to a low mileage one.63,000 miles.Since I've had the car,I notice,that my pedal feel,has dead spots.I have new coils,plugs,wires,oxygen sensor,MAF,crank sensor,fuel filter,fuel pump,and fuel regulator.The other day I noticed I can't get past 97 mph.My car before has been to 135 mph.Could it be the magnets,or cam sensor?

As said above you need to pull, clear, drive and then re-pull codes.

I have no way to pull codes, not a wealthy person.

You can create a code puller for $10 in Radio Shack parts -- instructions are posted in numerous threads on this & other sites. Takes about 30 mins to assemble. You can use an old film canister or other small container to bring the price down even more.

Don't forget to consider the MAF.

Often a bad MAF will throw codes, so it helps to pull them.

Hello again, I have recently replaced all of my coil packs because of the wiring harness issue, but I am unable to pull codes with the reader that i have, because the 1995 version had obd1. When I bought the car, the catalytic converters were completely plugged, so I ended up cutting those off and just replacing that with a pipe. I will therefore assume that this is the reason why the exhaust is smelling of gasoline?
