w124 seat belt question

Hey all,

I'm starting to question weather the seat belt in my 91 300E is faulty... Every seat belt that I've known always locks up when you pull on it hard and fast, the other day I tried it on mine and it didn't lock. I pulled as fast as I could and nothing.. Are they supposed to do this? I know it has pretensioners but I would imagine even in a small crash that doesn't require SRS the seat belt should still lock right?

I'd hate to get in an accident and find out there that my seat belt is faulty, with my face meshed into the windshield :/
