M112 questions

I just stripped down an M112 from a 2002 CLK that somebody managed to swap ML rockers into and "blew up" the motor he said. It does look like there are clean spots on the pistons from a valve strike.

Questions...
1. Is this a plausible story?
2. Is there any value to all the bits and pieces I just unbolted (heads, cams, pistons, front cover)?
3. Do these M112 & M113 engines suffer from the same head bolt ills of the M117 alloy blocks? (do they need helicoils much; special fitting for drilling holes)? Which is to ask, is this block a large paperweight?

were both engines they swapped parts from the same exact revision/size M112? There's several different M112 variations....

I have both sets of rockers, I have dug into the EPC with the part numbers yet. But is sounds like you think the story holds water. Thx -CTH

I don't believe there are different rockers among standard M112s. Why did they need swapping to begin with?

Any thoughts on my other two questions?

Thx -CTH

The M112's haven't had a big cylinder head history, and as far as I know have no problems with the bolts either. The cylinders can't be bored out, however, so ithe crankcase is a junker if the walls are scored.

Good condition used parts should have value, but you'd have to check the auction sites or call some place like Potomac to get a feel for how much. Since these are still common engines, maybe lower than you hoped.

Dollar value of the parts isn't that important as much as the space they're about to take up in my garage (they're on my desk right now; it was the only clean, flat surface between my car and the garage Sunday night).

I'm into the older iron so this stuff wasn't on my xmas shopping list. I'd rather they be elsewhere. I'll see if my machinist wants them as a late xmas present.
