Shuddering while making u-turns...Need diagnosis

A sort of continuation from the tire thread...

Basically my 300TE yesterday made a really horrible shuddering that was felt in the tires. Almost as if it was dragging on the asphalt when I was making a U-Turn...

I got under the car today and found this:
I don't know if my issue has forced the washer out, or if it was incorrectly installed when I got the car aligned a few years ago.

Does this indicate anything?
The tie rods, drag link and LCA's are new Lemfoerder within last 25k...

Any ideas what could be causing this? I feel like after considering the tires, it seems too much of a shudder to be a simple tire issue...

That doesn't look right. Is anything loose in the front end?

I had the exact same issue in my 190e. Shuddering during u turns. I thought it was front end problems. Turned out the tranny fluid was low.

I am going to check torque on all parts today.

No wheel bearing history...

That's a tie rod end clamp.

The tie rod has a left and right hand thread. Loosening the two clamps allows the alignment guy to change the length of the tie rod to adjust toe in.

Both clamps would have to be loose to have any effect on the length of the rod.

Got back under this AM...
No slack anywhere in the tie rods. I yanked and pulled each way and no movement.

I did find this however -- the drag link is really, really close to the bolt of the steering damper. Is this normal? When I ran it through its full range, it comes almost to touching within maybe 1-2mm...

my w124 did that and it also caused it to steer itself sometimes on U turns - all solved after replacing the ball joints - but I do remember you installed new control arms complete with ball joints not too long ago.

The last picture looks normal.

The only other part that can cause this is the top pivot of the spindle which in a W124 is the strut mount. Check that.

Did the old tires have any unusual looking wear?

Replaced with the same brand...Continental Extremecontact DWS. They had 42k miles on them and only had about 5k left til the wear bar was flat with the tread.

They wore pretty reasonable for 42k. Outsides were worn, but that was from rubbing with the fender since I am running 16x8's. 225/50/16
