What does this remote do?

I have a remote that came with my car, and I'm a bit baffled as to what exactly it's supposed to be doing. I'm thinking it has something to do with the alarm system, but am not sure. Specifically:

1. The remote says "Your Valet"

2. It has two buttons on the remote -- "I" and "II"

3. When I push "II", nothing happens.

4. When I push "I", the tail lights and the yellow blinkers in front blink twice. If I push "I" again, they blink once.

5. I thought it might be the door locks, but the locks don't do anything when I push either button.

So is this just for the alarm or does it serve any purpose whatsoever?

Thanks for your help!

Seems like an aftermarket alarm system was added to your car.
However, the owner must have not had the money, or the shop didn't have the knowledge, to connect the alarm system to the central locking system.

You can have this done fairly easily, and it wouldn't be too expensive, considering you already have the unit.

"II" on the remote is for extra options.

See if the remote works... arm the car (blink the lights once), and then try and open an unlocked door to see what happens... if nothing, then further try and start the car.

Remote

Sometimes the second button may need to be kept pressed for about 5 seconds to start the car if the remote car module is present.
Try to do that make sure your car is safely parked , and the emergency brakes applied and is engaged in park.Do this in an open area and not in an enclosed garage.
Some remotes require a double press on the butttons to activate this function.
You may try both functions on both buttons .
I hope this helps.
