190e with 300te 3.29 ASD differential axle question.
Hello everyone,
I thought I'd ask the knowledgeable bunch for some help with a dilemma I currently am faced with. I have an M104 swapped 190e that has a 300te 4matic ASD 3.29 rear differential installed. The transplant was done by a previous owner whom I can't reach anymore, but I do know that he had the axles "cut, shortened and sleeved axles properly." Now, the driver's side axle snapped inside the boot connecting to the differential. I need a new axle. My question is as follows: would a 190e axle fit? I suspect that the w124 differential is wider (please correct if I am wrong). From what I gathered, the w124s had a 185mm differential except the m104 and m119 cars. From what I understand from this link: W201 and W124 ASD diff swaps is that my only option is to buy a 300te ASD rear axle and have it cut to fit in the rear of the w201 as I don't suspect that I'll be able to source and ASD w201 axles. The car is currently at a shop so I don't yet have access to taking pictures of the situation but I'd hate to buy a 190e axle if that won't help my situation in any sense. Please correct me if I am wrong in any parts of this post as I'd like try and be certain before I shell out and a w124 axle and then spend more to have it cut. Thanks in advance! |
