Question rear door side trim removal help needed

I've finally figured out how to remove the rear door trim on my 300SD but that's only because the nut that holds the rear of the trim piece was already missing.

Now that I've got it all back on, I'm needing to put a nut on the back retaining screw. The problem is, the hole that the nut goes into is tiny and a socket won't even fit into it. This wouldn't be much of an issue excpet that I can't even figure out how to get the nut threaded in the first place.

Anyone with experiece in R&R on these rear door trim pieces?
