$4500 Too Much?

I am driving/evaluating a 1983 300D Turbo Diesel w/234000 miles for $4500. The body is in near perfect shape. The interior needs some attention. The glove box needs a new opener. The cruise control lever is broken. The material around the interior light is comming loose. The material around the door frames is getting hardened and looks like it may come off soon.

It runs great and has no known mechanical problems.

Does this sound reasonable? Or out of the question. Kelly Blue book has it at $1500 but all places like autotrader.com and other classifieds seem around $3500 - 5000.

Yup, too much. Sounds like a $2000 car to me.

I recently paid $4500 for a 1977 300d with 56k. It was the original owner, always garaged and looked like it was just driven off the showroom floor. I thought I was paying on the high side.

For $4,500 (ask), I've been looking at a mint '82 300D with a perfect interior, perfect exterior, garaged/one owner in SoCal since new, 101,000 miles. I'd work the price down from there.
