2008 4Matic Diff Change? How?
I attempted to change the front diff fluid on my 2008 E350 4Matic...I couldn't seem to draw anything out. Half the issue is that there is something in the way of the port and I couldn't fit a tube in there.
Can anybody tell me how to get the front diff done? Also the tool and technique used to suck the fluid out?

Hi;
Putting the plastic drain tube in the front diff is a little tricky. Just ease it alongside the case and you should feel it slip down. Just do not force it as you have to remove it. Attach to a suitable vacuum device and start the drain. I usually leave mine over nite after removing the vacuum device. This allows for about a third or so of the fluid to be removed. I did this several times and felt fairly comfortable I had at least renewed the fluid. Use only Genuine MB fluid for refill. It's worth the peace of mind. Allow the new fluid to drain a bit so you know you have the level right. Be sure to reinstall the plug. |

I used the orange harbor freight fluid pump and it didn't seem to work at all.
Also did you slip it to the sides or straight downwards through the opening? What fluid pump did you use also since the hose size seems to be of upmost importance. Thanks
