M137 V12 expert advice wanted
Hello Peaches,
I am seeking expert on the M137 V12 to offer advise on installing a tiny LED that will indicate if Cylinder Shut Off is functioning. I am getting about 15 MPG in city/hwy and 17 mostly highway. I have read that CSO can increase mileage to 22 MPG. Have been driving the car daily for a month and never seen 20 MPG. The model is 2001 S600 sedan. Do you know the circumstances that turn on CSO? Is it a gear and RPM function? It may be that previous owner's technician turned off CSO. How can I know? Thank you in advance!

I don't have specific information but would investigate:
You might be able to get the info through the dash, have you gone through the owners manual in detail? Even if the manual does not show it, it might be accessible in a service mode. Having the car scanned with a Star SDS in developer mode might turn up something. If none of that turns up any info, I'd be tempted to wire a LED to each injector / engine valve actuator to check status. I like the valve actuator better as the power would be continuous ( I hope, and not a pulse width modulated signal ) rather than the on / off of an injector. |

I don't have the Star SDS handy. Will have to get the dealership to do that.
Anyone out there know the parameters of the Cylinder Shot Off feature?
