W124 Coupe Central Locking
Hello.
My 1993 (pre-facelift) W124 Coupe has been parked for four years while I was away, now I'm getting it back to life and virtually everything works except for the central locking, it worked fine before I left. I don't have a key for the driver's door, I believe the lock was changed before I got the car. It was never an issue as the c/l worked fine with the factory alarm, then I had a Toad cat1 alarm installed and everything still worked perfectly. Now the trunk lock does not operate the locks as it used to and the central locking does not work at all. I did check and clean the fuse, and the alarm is working fine. I have never tackled a central locking problem before, could the pump have seized? How would I know if it had? Thanks in advance, btw I am in the UK - RHD car. |

Ok this may help others here.
I took a look at the vacuum pump, all looks good, connectors as new etc. I had an idea there was no power to the system so took out the fuse and replaced it for a new one - even though the other electrical items on that fuse were working. The system then came to life and now works! The passenger door though locks but doesn't unlock, the rod does move but doesn't go all the way up. Any ideas??? Is a new unit on that door required or is there any adjustment available? |
