SLK230 Gear Selector/Ignition Issue

Hey all,

I had to disassemble the gear selector box yesterday in order to remedy a problem I had with the reverse light. However! Now the key is stuck in the ignition, because the car thinks it's unsafe to remove it!
I going to presume it's something in the gear selector box that's preventing me taking the key out, but I have no clue what it is!

Anybody got any ideas/help?

Cheers

Tim

I would suspect that the car "thinks" that it's in gear and not park. There is a cable going from the gear selector to the ignition switch (if your 230SLK is the same as a 98 e320) that might have gotten dislodged, or disconnected while you were remedying the other issue.
