1993 190e won't crank with key.

If I jump the starter via the single connector over by the fuse box to +12 it cranks and starts. If I turn the key it does nothing, no dimming lights, no click, nothing. Any suggestions?

Something's amiss in the ignition. Not sure what though, maybe wiring.

You could first give the starter a tap while someone spins it over. Check all the earth leeds from engine to chassis .And the battery conections them selves.

Is there a relay from the ign switch to the two wires that go into that single connector plug by the fuse box and water line from back of cyl head to firewall? Again it WILL crank and start if I jump that connector to +12...

93 might have an antitheft that is tied to the remote unlocking. Do you have a wiring diagram for the car?
