W210 fog lights option?
Our '00 E320 has a fog light issue, no doubt helped by the really wet weather here in the Northwest. Rather then continuing to replace burnt out bulbs every 60 days in one assembly I'm researching options.
It appears there is a "sport" assembly offered. What are the chances that this unit is a little more water tight, and are we talking about "plug 'n play or more work? Oh, and what does it look like. Anyone have any photos available? Thanks |

i'd sure hate to have you chase a symptom by throwing in new parts when the
cause hasn't been isolated. 210s are known to have anemic wiring harness so it may be a good idea to look upstream first. pull the under engine splash shield and carefully examine the wiring harness leading up to the bulb for indications of decomposition and corrosion.

I fixed such a problem in a nissan altima, it would always blow the driver side headlamp like clockwork in 3 months This bulbswas a similar H1 bulb like the W210 fog - and it was a pain in the butt to get in and out. After the cleanup and greasing - no issues at all since 8 months I think.

The sport fog lamps will not fit your application if you do not have the sport style front bumper. As someone suggested above that a good look at the wiring harness & connector for the fog lamp. They can/will get weak over time causing all sorts of headaches. If you are really handy install an inline fuse in each wire of the fog lamp harness leading to the bulb. Then once the bulb stops working, see which fuse went bad and trace it from there. Now if your issues are with either bulb randomly going bad then it is a given the harness needs a deeper evaluation/repair/replacement

Look at insulation on wiring inside headlight very closely. The insulation will deteriorate and breat apart when it is disturbed.
