190E oils

Hello fellow MBer's,
What motor and gear oils do most of you use? I currently use 20w-50 Max-Life Valvoline and 80w-90 gear oil. I sometimes find the 20w-50 a bit heavy on start-up because my valve train rattles for a few seconds and clears up. No so with 10w-30 or 40. I heard that 85w-140 gear oil is good for diff whine. Is this too heavy?

i brought this up with my service advisor, and he said that the problem with heavy diff oil is that they can be too heavy (and therefore ineffective) in the winter.

maybe it's ok for the summer though - but check it with them.

i hear that synthetic hypoid oil does the job (redline brand?) for year-round use
