Rocker arm or lifter noise 450SL. Should I be concerned?

I've started to notice some ticking noise that is coming from the back side of the right cylinder head. The camshaft and a rocker and lifter was replaced 30,000 miles ago. Is it time to go back in and replace more lifters or rockers. The next question is can it be done without buying the MB valve spring compressor? Does anyone out there that has done this have any tips? Aslo, what kind of damage can be done if I don't address this immediately?
I'm a little repair billed out after a recent transmsission replacement.
