Post SLK 230 R170 Running terrible

I own a Merc Benz slk r170. I need help locating a problem. The car will not start and if it does it runs so rough, if you press the accelerator pedal it will begrudgingly rev up to about 2500 rpm but take your foot of the accelerator it will start to run rough them cut out. When you rev it there is a smell off unburnt fuel. Any help would be most helpful.

Is the check engine light coming on? Have you checked for any codes in the OBDII? Right away I get suspicious of the CP sensor.

Be sure to post the solution to help others.

Pull the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator and see if there is liquid fuel in the hose. If working properly it should be dry.

Pull the plug from the air flow sensor to force that sensor into limp. If it runs better make sure there is power at the proper plug locations. At least in 97 there was battery and computer reference voltage.

Be sure to post the solution to help others.

Sounds like a fouled MAF. The SLK230 is known for oil separator issues dumping oil in the intercooler and fouling the MAF.
Remove it and take it apart when cleaning. There's really no way to get it clean assembled. Also, wipe all the oil from the intake tube and clean out the oil separator.

There's a chance the two small PCV nozzles under the intake manifold are clogged.
