1988 300sel w126

Time to replace the motor mounts and the transmission mount on my 88 300sel.
The drivers side mount looks hard access and I just don't know if it is better to access the mount screws thru the top or from underneath the car.

My next question is who makes the best motor mount for the w126?
Reading thru the forums it seems that many people have had no luck with Meyle or Lemforder. Both will collapse on the w126.

Is it better to just get the engine mounts from the dealer?
They cost an arm and a leg but might be worth it

I have 2 Meyle brand new motor mounts (part#1232415213MY and 1232415013MY) that I might just store away.

Dealer wants $72.75 for mount with part#1232415013 and $115.50 for mount with part#1232415213.


Any advice is greatly appreciated
