Want to thank you all once again for the help with my 85 w201 shes up and running great and i couldnt do it without all your help.
I now am having a problem with my 89 w201 2.6
Did a full tune up last fall was running fine then outta nowhere she develops this knock!! Yep its a knock
Tak,tak,tak,tak on idle if im on the highway or accelerating hard no knock under hood it sounds like its the waterpump area so i pulled the belt still knocks checked lifters with valve cover off all good there consodering it has a new lower end checked belt tentioner and thats nice and tight also. This baby has no cats and i did remember having a broken rotor under dist cap replaced it with an off hand one from autozone to get the car running can that be it?
Also changed plugs and wires to make sure and she still knocks....no power loss at all just this annoying knock
