[w124] Odd window/sunroof problem
1990 300E, 4 power windows and sunroof.
I started installing a remote for tthe central locking yesterday. Tested the installation without the box as in this post DIY Keyless Entry Door Lock - W126 and W124 The car locked and unlocked when jumping the pins directly on the harness. 5 minutes later I was driving along. Opened my driver side window and the sunroof as usual. They refused to close again. Nothing happened. TUrned out i could open all windows with the buttons in the car but they wouldn't close. When I parked the car everything did close with the key hold in the lock position (as normal). Found out everything also works normal with the door open. I.e.: Buttons are good, all motors are good, wiring is good, fuses are good. I left the car over night with no power to see if something would reset. Same result this morning. Or actually a little bit worse - sunroof wont open at all with door closed and ignition on. Opens / closes with door open or with the key in the door lock. I began to think - could the jumping of cables on the remote harness trick the convenience relay to think that the car is locked when it's open or something like that? Or have the convenience relay somehow partly stopped working at the this very moment? Ideas? Im a bit at loss |

No i am thinking you have taken power from the wrong side of switch..These windows do work funny .Like windows will open from outside on the button with door open.,no key in the switch.,But inside wont work till sitting in the seat with the key to number 1 or 2

Solved
Solved (kind of)
Changed the aux fan relay (black square behind the fuse box) a couple of days ago because my aux fans were constantly running. That cured the fans for a few days but then they started again. I removed the relay and that's what caused the window thing. Put back the old relay and Windows and sunroof work normal (and aux fans run constantly...) |
