1994 Mercedes E320 wagon Front Bumper Tow Hook Cover Cap 1988-1995 MB E-Class W124
My 1994 Mercedes E320 wagon front bumper tow hook cover cap is missing. I enclosed the picture with a circle covering the bumper tow hook that should look like that. I tried to track down the part number and I came up with this: The part number is supposedly 124 880 01 05. When I looked into the part number of the Front Bumper Tow Hook Cover Cap and saw the images, it looks nothing like the one in the picture. The picture shows a grilled-type Tow Hook Cover cap and the image I saw look like a bunch of holes (6) on the cover cap. Later models (1996 and up) did show grille-type front bumper tow hook cover cap. What am I missing here? Is it a wrong part number and/or name of the part for my Mercedes e320 wagon? See the below attachments for comparison. Feedback, comments is greatly appreciated.

When the cap is installed, I don't think you see the holes because they face the ground.

If the holes faces the ground, where is the grille part that faces in front of the bumper as pictured in the above attachment?

I did some research on the issue of the tow hitch cover/cap and goes by different names, same thing. When I googled image of the part number, almost all shows the 6 holes/opening facing the front bumper and not the grilled type cover. It seems to me that the part was made aftermarket. My best guess to find the grilled-typed tow hitch cover/cap is at the junkyards that has the original part in the first place.

The early cars (including my '87 300TD) had a blank one, my later cars and replacement tow-hook covers had the six rectangular openings that face downward when installed like your photo.
This part can be re-tooled, re-designed, and re-sourced by Mercedes many times by now.
