1986 300e w124 Benz Spark Plug Connector

So I was checking out Eckler's book and they have spark plug connectors that are to be installed with the plug wires. Is this just a tool or would these be used in conjunction with the plug wires?



My plug wires have this style end:

I have had issues with a visible arc to the head from the plug end causing the plug to fowl out. Would this be a reason why or did they make an error in their parts schematic.

The first picture's connector is for an M104 and not applicable to your engine, an M103.
