c220 coding plug?

I have a 1995 C220 and the cruise control works sometimes for a little while or not at all. Could the so-called coding plug be the problem? What is a coding plug?

Welcome to the forum! I'm not sure I fully understand what you're asking. Did you have your factory ecu re-coded?

Question Cruise Control Coding plug

There is a black relay looking part that is plugged in the outside of the cruise control module. Is this a so-called coding plug or a relay?
