W201 rear fender removal
Anyone ever successfully remove and/or replace a rear fender on a w201?
On my 190e, if I follow either fender back, it curves around back to the strip of body just above the bumper/below the taillights. There appears to be an indentation where perhaps a weld is made, but no visibly detachable seam. Can both rear fenders and this rear strip be removed as one piece? Looking into the possibility of replacing a fender. Any input would be appreciated!! Roland |

I'm not sure where the weld lines are at that point, but what matters more is where the new fender ends. That's where you're going to have to cut and weld.

The quarter-panel (not "fender") is welded and will need to be cut away. I believe that the procedure is in the FSM, but no guarantee as it's been a long time since I had a 201 FSM.
If you can't find someone who has done this, it is a big help to take a cordless sawzall to a U-pull yard and cut into one of their cars. Even better is to find someone who has a parts car (many show up on this forum) who will let you cut into theirs, there is a cutter made for this purpose but I've found a cutting wheel on an angle grinder to work for most of the rough work.
