Injector fit question for 95 E320

So clearly some knowledgeable hobbyists here! Maybe somebody has experience with injector options and fit across years??

On discovering my 95 wagon was worth restoring I had some missing/rough idle and installed the quad electrode plugs which I dont reccommend. It runs much better with carefully gapped conventional plugs..Went through the ignition components and replaced some rusty and cracked parts..One coil pac..Then ended up doing the head gasket and rebuilding the head.

Running beautifully now but back when I began the project, I purchased an EBay suggested set of flow matched injectors from a california injector shop..reasonable at $125/ per six..But the part number instead of being the proper A0000788523 was A0000788623..(86 instead of 85).

The injectors appear to fit just fine and the only difference I can see is four tiny holes instead of the pair of holes in the original injectors..And checking the catalog I see these called for by Pelican for the 97 e320 which is the V six..Mercedes brand..

The supplier said injectors may vary depending on month and chassis number and different injectors were supplied for the same car..The dealer was indefinite about the question and just offered to supply the original set..part 85..I suspect the 86 design is slightly improved..

Id like to install the new set..Just wondering if any risks are associated with a possible mis-match?

Thanks again to the experts sharing the wealth of knowledge on here!

the 97 still would have the straight six, the V6 showed up in 98.

Yeah I see that there is overlap in years? Looks like the V6 came out sometime 97-98 and the straight six continued as an option through 99?? unclear..but it does seem the injectors from later years cross fit the earlier models..Im hoping for better MPG with an updated injector perhaps..The model change is not particularly on the even year..Pelican staff responded on the tech article on injector replacement for the W124..And the W210 is also a six and this is the injector I have..

Anyway my impression is that for the late 90s you could choose btw engines as an option??

the straight six carried on for the S class, I dont think you can find a W210 of later than 97 vintage with the M104 straight six engine.

Interested in your outcome and whether you gain any seat of the pants performance or MPG.
