190E 2.6 Manual conversion procedure
So I am picking up a manual transmission for my 190E 2.6, at the same time I am swapping in a M103 3.0L. I have done a manual swap on a 240D before but I am wanting to know the intricacies of this particular job.
The manual transmission is a 717.435 from an 89 260E. It has the dual mass flywheel. It comes with the W124 trans mount, W124 driveshaft, plus the hydraulics (I will be replacing these) and the shifter/shift linkages and pedals. I have a few questions: How do I time the flywheel to the engine correctly? Will I need the W201 manual speedometer cable? I currently have a W124 auto speedometer cable that is 1480MM, I believe the manual W201 one is 1490MM Will I need the W201 manual crossmember or will the auto one work with drilling new holes? Is the manual transmission mount different? The EPC only lists one mount for all 2.6 engined W201s. Any other quirky things I should know about? I am going to have to have my driveshaft modified, does anyone have measurements for the length needed for the manual 2.6 front driveshaft length? Thanks
