M103 head gasket, revisited
What is the best head gasket on the market currently for the M103.983?
I did a Victor Reinz around 40k ago and it is leaking profusely from the pressure gallery by the number five exhaust port.  All I am seeing are VR, Elring, and OE. I will spend extra for OE if needed. Thanks for any input

I've al alway used oe gaskets. Too big of a job to cut corners. I've never had an issue after

Or Custom Manufactured from "Gaskets to go" Gaskets-to-Go Custom Gaskets-Home Page upon request He'll make a MLS gasket. Multiple Layer Stainless Steel Gasket.

Personally I would go with OE since you have bad experience with the aftermarket ones..
But to save money..

I ordered an OEM gasket (1030162120, apparently by Elring...the factory installed on mine I pulled years ago was a Goetze) and an aftermarket Elring. Once both here, I can compare to see what, if any differences there are between them.
BMW's Elring for the M30 is slightly beefier than the aftermarket Elring. Odd I know. Also ordered OE timing cover sealant.

After hearing about the horrors of M103 / M102 gasket failures due to corrosion I have been using Hylomar as a gasket dressing
