W126 - No electric power at all. Battery is ok

So I was in the process of stretching a battery cable to the trunk, added a new more beefy connectors and stuff. Now I have no power going to anything. The battery is ok and shows voltage in my test light. But nothing happens when the key is turned. I have no idea what can cause this.

The starter has power too, maybe I ripped out a ground? Anyone got a wiring schematics for the main grounds and battery cables?

You may be able to find a wiring diagram online, if not then a workshop manual will definitely have this information.

It's strange, no power at all to anything. I have been working under the dash on the passenger side, maybe a ground cable behind there? It's 90% sure it's a ground issue. Hoep someone can help me, it's my daily :-(

Year and model might help others to better diagnose.

That sounds like a battery cable problem. Are the battery connections clean and snug?

Use a multimeter and see what the voltage is at the battery and follow the cables and check + to ground, + to battery -, ground to battery +.

If you do not know how to use a multimeter, take it to an automotive repair shop which does electrical work.

Either you knocked loose a battery cable which needed tightening anyway, or you blew fuses when running the new cable. I'm betting it's the cables, or a really corroded/loose connection at the terminals. Follow the negative cable all the way to the chassis grounds. I don't think your dash work is to blame, IIRC all the grounds behind the dash are on the driver's side behind the inst. cluster.

You don't mention year /model but....on my 86 W126 there is an outboard connection on the + post that if not clean and tight will give you a no start action. This plagued me for a month until I stumbled upon it.
