86 560SELTailights

I have an '86 560 SEL I recently purchased. It has a taillight lense that goes all the way across the back of the car, behind the license plat even. I have not seen this on any other Mercedes here in Tucson. For what its worth the hood ornament and the lettering on the trunk appear to be gold plated also .Is this some special appearance package or what ?

That sounds like the aftermarket reflector item that "fills" the area between your tail lights to give an effect that the light goes all the way across the rear. I don't have one myself but have seen them for sale for MB's including the 126... PO probably installed it himself since its so easy to install. Hope this helps
