The red indicator light on the re-circ switch doesn't light up when the switch is pushed. The A/C blows cold air, but I have a feeling I'll be needing the re-circ fucntion this summer as I live in So. NV.

Is this something that is common and easy to troubleshoot, or should I wait until I get the A/C manual?

Try the easy method first by replacing the switch. I have seen switches fail.

The switch only works when you are some what normal mode, if you are asking for a/c the recric. flaps are already closed. On SLs like yours they only open or close, unlike most Benzes that have a 80 percent mode as well!!

I'm confused. If the flaps close when the A/C is on, what is the recirc button for?

The switch did work (red light came on) momentarily when I first got the car a few weeks ago.

Thanks for the replies.

The switch is there so that when you are driving & come upon "ODORS" then you can push the button to shut off the incoming "air".

Lee,
I haven't replaced the switch yet. I've been too busy installing an in-dash cassette, CD changer, new speaker system, and cell phone unit. The stereo sounds superb--top up, or top down.

The Sony ES equipment works and sounds great, but I know the most credit has to go to the speaker system that was engineered specifically for W107s. You can't tell anything was done to the car to install it--looks completely stock (except for the Sony unit, of course).
