2002 E320 tape deck not working

Hey guys, hate to come here with another problem but I can't seem to find any information about this specific problem. When I hit the tape button on my becker audio 30 nothing happens. I made a quick 1 minute video to show my exact problem.

Thats a google photos link, if that doesn't work for some reason I can post to youtube or something.

Basically, I had my car detailed and when I got it back I cant switch to tape mode to play tapes on the head unit. Hitting the "Tape" button gives no response, but if you hit it multiple times you can see the screen briefly flash to tape mode. Does anyone know of a solution to this?

Sounds like a possible over-zealous interior detail? I've seen all sorts of strange occurrences when even a small amount of cleaning liquids find their way into electrical components...........

Maybe it's time to join the 21st century andget an aux input installed.

I believe he turned the tape deck digital input into an aux unit via soldering, but that doesn't solve the mystery since I know his deck worked for months afterwords on Tape

Yea I'm already a step ahead of you there. I have installed aux and bluetooth myself! I have aux soldered directly onto the board. I even have modern bluetooth with a2dp set up as well! All feeding through the stock radio to maintain that stock interior look, all while keeping a pure signal for my audio. I just need the tape button to access that audio though =/.

With regards to the detail, yes I figure it can't be coincidence that the tape button suddenly stopped working after they had it. I was just hoping I could find someone here who has experienced a similar issue and may have found a solution.

Hmmmm, everything worked fine before the detail. I actually have some spare becker units I picked up from the salvage yard while I did the aux jack mod. Is the tape belt something I could replace? Right now there is just a gutted tape in the player, all the audio is coming strait from the aux jack I soldered in to the tape audio lines. If the tape belt is a hardware feature that's failure is preventing me from even accessing the tape aspect of the head unit though, maybe I can replace it?

^There is all the information regarding the aux jack mod I did months ago. It's been working flawlessly for a long time now.
