Valve adjustment on M110 280SEL
I need to adjust the valves on my gray market 83 280SEL with a euro-spec M110 motor. I remember seeing a post with detailed instructions on valve adjustments, but I cannot find it. Can anybody provide me with information on how to adjust my valves? Anything specific to the M110 that I need to be aware of?

Some what a simple job if you have a "factory" wrench OR one that is shaped just right.
The clearance specs should be on the valve cover, if not then set the intakes to .004" cold & the exhaust to .010" cold.

I've done this twice now on my car, and it's not difficult. I followed the 110 engine shop manual, a Chilton's manual, and instructions that were printed in a technical article in The Star (MBCA magazine) a few years ago. I can send you a copy of the article if you want to.
It's good to use a new cam cover gasket. Tools needed include a 17 mm open end wrench for the adjusters (I think the techs use a thin wrench, but my Crafstman wrench worked ok), feeler gages, screw driver and plastic hammer for removing and installing the clips, and wrenches to remove and install the cam cover bolts and spark plugs. I turned the engine with a socket wrench on the crankshaft pulley bolt. It's easy to turn with the plugs out. Remember to remove the socket wrench from the pulley bolt when you're done; it's easy to overlook! John.

It would be quite helpful if you could send me the instructions. Will you please if you get a chance?
