I'm trying to replace the wood strip on my '79 300D's glove box. I have an old box door with a good strip on it, but I can not see how to get the locking mechanism off that sits on top of the wood strip. At least I can practice on the old box and if someone can tell me how to do it, I won't ruin my good glovebox!
Thanks, Joe |

The inner part of the glove box must removed before removing the lock. There are several phillips screws that hold the inner(black plastic) on.

Give me a LITTLE credit, Doc! I did remove the black plastic piece and found behind it, under a foam coating, the locking mechanism. It appears to be a one piece mold. Unless there is another piece I need to remove? I would think the lock assembly would be something that should be removable in case one needs to replace it, (or replace the wood strip)!
I hope this clarifies my question a little better. Thanks again... Joe |

Sorry bout that, but there are many levels of ability & I don't know everybodys.
The lock is forced thru the opening & locks itself into place, so to remove it requires some "prying" force to get it out. The wood is held in by the lock & the "twisted" pins that are part of the backing. |
