Crank Sensor Confusion -- W210 / M113

Car: 2001 E430 4matic

My Engine:
113940 30 285847

So... Which of these crank sensors do I use? Pelican Parts indicates either.

Single Clip, Rear
From engine # 30 039710

Double Clip, Rear
thru engine # 30 039709

oe number is 003 153 2828. use the interchange to find their number. the eng serial # is after 039710. good luck, chuck-refugee from fairfax high.

Thanks Chuck -- just drove by your school last night, taking a shortcut on Rebel Run.

Still confused though; every search I do says both are compatible. Seems to come down to a single locking clip vs two.

What I will likely do is buy both locally, remove the existing one, then eyeball it to see which replacement matches and return the one that does not.

Seems I was not paying attention -- my engine is in fact after 039710, as you said. I was misreading something in my notes.

Update: I had the presence of mind to read the codes and it turns out it is actually the camshaft position sensor that is failing -- a much easier fix.
