'04 W220 S500 Pre Purchase Tips
Hello everyone
Thanks in advance for any guidance. I posted a similar post in the SL forum when I went to look at a R129 that was disappointing. Tomorrow I am going to see a 2004 S500 4-Matic LWB. It has 185,000KM (Canada) and looks extremely clean. Lots of photos. For my first visit does anyone have any tips on things that I could check? Taking into consideration I am not a mechanic? My Dad owned a 2004 and I remember electronic gremlins. I think this was caused by a blocked drain channel that caused a mini flood in a foot-well and possibly elsewhere. Thanks Ollie

Find a reputable independent to do a prepurchade inspection for you. It’s about a $150 service in the US.

+1..a PPI should give you all the info you need on deciding if it's worth pursuing. As Sixto mentioned, the key is to take it to an independent shop so that there is an unbiased opinion.
