1988 M103 300 Coupe No Start

hi Guys
My beloved Coupe has thrown teddy from the sandpit and won't start.
History.
Have had slow battery drain for some time, suspect its the immobiliser so thats disconnected.
Month or so ago I started her, (she is on heritage registration so limited days per year on road) and on warming, gave it a couple squirts. ABS came on and stayed on. Restart it goes away until revs go over 2000 then same thing happens. Believe OVP is okay and ABS has been road tested worked fine.

Took it for a drive, 6 or 7 miles, drove beautifully. Stopped at supermarket on way home. Came out to start, backfire and wont start. It want sto but just wont. Towed home.

Now everything looks fine, fuel pumps can be heard on turning the key, fuel smells up front so ont suspect that to be the issue.

IF I DEPRESS THE THROTTLE PLATE very slightly it starts and idles beautifully. TOO MUCH NO START, TOO LITTLE NO START.
THAT IS LETTING AIR INTO THE MIX (OR AM i WRONG THERE ?)

Now that's says air fuel issue. I have had distributor cap rotors buttons, loads of things that IMO cant possibly answer WHY it will start with the throttle plate depressed.

So over to you, welcome all suggestions, just not financial tot hrow it into a shop and let them play swap the parts at this point in time.

My gut says a sensor is screwy or the voltage to the sensor is screwy.

Thanks in advance people
