battery drain on a 2000 ml320

what would be the normal drain in ma between the battery and neg cable and does the car need to go to sleep after the millimeter is connected to get the reading?

I have a 2004 ML350 and had a battery drain issue. Going by memory but I think the normal drain is around 150-200mA. I was having 1.5A draw. Turned out to be the Tele-Aid module under the passenger seat. I disconnected the module and I no longer have a drain issue.

I'm having and electrical problem I hope someone can help me with. This is a 2000 ml320 and I have an electrical drain I cant figure out. The battery is 4 weeks old and unhooked it holds its charge . I took a multimeter and set it on 10a and checked the drain between the neg terminal and cable , it started at 1.2 amp and after 20 to 30 seconds it drops to 0.95 then drops to 0.64 after about 1min. Does the car go further to sleep after a min os so? I think this converts to 640 ma and the battery drains after a day. I unhooked the cable to the alt and the drain was the same. I think that means the alt is not the problem and when cranked it shows 14.1 volts. any advice would be great on what direction to go next.

640 ma is way too much. Your car should pull around 50 ma.

You can connect your meter and let the car sit until it reaches the lowest draw, this may take ten minutes or more. Then you can start pulling fuses until you see a change in the current draw. Be careful when putting the fuses back in because some circuits will cause a voltage spike and pull more amps than your meter can handle.
