Any major problems with 2010 E350?

I'm planning to sell my "normal car" - a 2009 Yaris I bought new in 08 to buy something bigger/better/more fun. There's a 2010 E350 with 50k on the odo for sale nearby that has caught my attention. It's a V6, gas, AWD, 7 speed automatic.

I'm still fairly new to Benz, but I absolutely LOVE my 190D and would like to pick up a newer Benz as my new normal car for longer trips and such. Are there any major issues with the E350? I've done a fair amount of reading on them, and it seems everyone loves them. I figure if anyone knows about needed repairs and the like, it's you guys

I have a similar car 2010 e63. I’d consider this car a true renaissance of the quality Benz that we all adore. I purchased mine with 60k and loved every minute.

I’ve put on only about 10k miles, just got new tires, other than that just regular oil changes, etc. every single thing on the car works flawlessly, my only small gripe is the Bluetooth is a bit temperamental to connect to my iPhone. It doesn’t bother me at all as I’d rather hear the rumble of my 6.3L v8.

I plan on retiring my old mb wagon soon and buy another w212. Likely something similar to what you are looking at. Perhaps another wagon!

Only model year 06 and first half of 07. It doesn't affect w212.

So would that be the 2nd half cars of 2005 date code, and possibly all of 2006 date code cars

Would that be a fair guess?

It’s funny, I do know and I wonder why they still call it the 6.3.

No, mid year, 2007. There is an actual serial number where the change was made if you google it. Also, if they have service records to show the timing system was serviced to fix the issue, it will have the updated gears and should be fine.

I went to check it out Saturday. Car is in excellent condition inside and out. A couple of minor scuffs in the polymer bodywork and the sliding cover piece that goes over the cup holders is broken. Those were the only problems I saw. Has every option you could get on the car except the AMG kit. I was pleased enough that I went ahead and picked it up Boy is it a pleasure to drive!

Good for you. You will like it. If you ever get where you want to read codes and such pick up a good, used Autel MaxiDas and you will have all the communication equipment you will need on it. MaKe sure it is MB compatible.

I maintain my cousins 2010 E class wagon and it is a good car that is, for the most part, easy to work on if you have the right tools.

Just be aware that the E350s come standard with what is still called MB Tex-Leather. It is different than the old MB Tex that was used for years. This new stuff is not leather, so the name used is misleading. It is also called Artico.

I have read that it is no longer vinyl but instead a non-PVC based material. From personal experience with our 2009 E320, this stuff does not hold up like the old MB Tex. There have been a lot of issues with the material cracking or separating at the seams, especially on the driver's seat. Ours is a W211 model but this issue seems to be there with the W212 models as well. Do an internet search and you will find plenty of reports on this.

If you have a problem with the MB Tex you can buy an expensive cushion replacement from Mercedes but I believe it is the same stuff so that isn't a long term solution. We have been trying to find a vinyl that matches our current seats but have not had success so far finding an exact match.

Maybe since the car you are looking at has every option, it has the leather upgrade.

This is OT but it’s a homage to the 300SEL 6.3.
