No reverse lights

Both reverse lights are non-functioning. Checked fuse and checked bulbs. Both are fine. Voltage at reverse light socket shows about 1.4v when not in reverse and about 2.5v when in reverse. All other lights function as they should. Is there some relay or something I need to check? Thanks.

Key on engine off, move the shift lever slowly from P to N. Is there a point at which the reverse lights come on? If so, you might need new shifter bushings.

The neutral start switch might be done or out of adjustment. I don’t know which wires to check for reverse though.

Neutral safety switch is most likely the issue. Easy fix.

Ok, so got my neutral safety switch in. There is this small black lever on the top portion that moves. Any special instructions I should be aware of when installing?

That lever engages a slot in the bell crank. The transmission control shaft goes through the NSS without engaging it.

Thanks. Installed it last and I have reverse lights again.
