C280 Water Pump Gasket quesion

I have a 2000 C280 and i'm in the middle of changing the water pump. The new pump has two gaskets that came with it. One looks like the original one that fits in the groove and is slender. But I got a second one that is flat with marks the size of the slender one. I'm wondering what to do with it. Should I use both or what?

I was also wondering if I should use gasket sealer. I have some black oil gasket maker I was going to use.

Use the one like the one you’re replacing. Clean and dry, no sealant.

If the hole for the MAP sensor bracket isn’t tapped, you might want to tap it before installing the water pump.

Most M112s have a small electronic device with a vacuum hose attached to a bracket bolted to an eye on the water pump. On some replacement water pumps that eye isn’t tapped.

I just noticed they are not tapped.

This job is turning out to be bigger than I thought.

You can try to tap it with a bolt of the same thread. Go slowly, back off frequently, use lots of lube. Or clamp the bracket with a couple of zip ties.
