Towing --Backwards OK?

I have a question about towing a 300E for about 50 miles. Would it be alright to tow it with the rear wheels off the ground? Will this do anything to the steering parts? I did a search(i'm learning ) but didnt find any specific answers to this question. thanks for any help

Rear wheel drive cars can be towed with front wheels on ground and front wheel drive cars can be towed with rear wheels on ground with no problem - tow trucks up here do it all the time.
